Staff and Students Come Together in Remembrance

Schools from across the 蜜桃传媒 family came together this month to join the nation in remembrance, taking time to pause, breathe and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf.

As an Armed Forces friendly organisation, staff and students at each of our nine schools marked Remembrance Day (Friday 11th November) in a variety of poignant ways to proudly stand with service men and women to mark this important occasion.

From the Poppy Appeal and wreath laying to student cadets and Remembrance Day parades, here are just some of the ways our family of schools paid its respects:

Colley Lane Primary Academy

Twelve children were chosen to represent the school at a local Remembrance Day parade organised by Cradley C of E Primary School. Pupils visited the local cemetery and cenotaph to hear readings and poems about the war and join in the parade.

Goldsmith Primary Academy and Rivers Primary Academy

Children from both schools were invited by New Horizons Community Enterprise to join the Peace Tree Remembrance Service to pay their respects alongside members of the local community, including Reverend David Sims and Eddie Hughes MP

Manor Way Primary Academy

Manor Way Primary Academy created a display outside of the school symbolising the poppies of Flanders Field and the soldiers who lost their lives in the World Wars. Year 5 also presented a fantastic historical assembly through the poem of Flanders Field and the well known song of 鈥業t鈥檚 a Long way to Tipperary鈥� which they performed to school and to parents.

Cheslyn Hay Academy

Student cadets were joined by the Royal British Legion to proudly lead the school鈥檚 Remembrance Day parade.

Great Wyrley Academy

Staff and students joined together for the two minute silence, which began and ended with the Last Post, played by Mr Vaughan Smith.

Kingswinford Academy

Headteacher, Ian Moreton, joined Kingswinford鈥檚 Head Boy and Head Girl to attend St Mary鈥檚 Church on Sunday and laid a wreath on behalf of all staff and students at the school

Windsor High School and Sixth Form

Year 13 students led this year鈥檚 Poppy Appeal at the school brilliantly to raise vital funds for our service men and women.

Tenterfields Primary Academy

Tenterfields Primary Academy celebrated Remembrance Day in assembly and shared photos of family members who have or are currently serving in the armed forces. Nursery painted some lovely poppy pictures and Year 6 wrote letters home from the trenches.
